What's in the box

Vest with 6 × 2 lb packs (all installed), mesh storage bag.

Weight range 20–32 lb, in 2 lb steps. Shipped weight 33 lb.

Will it fit me?

One adjustable size, black. It's a harness worn over your clothes, not a fitted garment: padded shoulder straps cross at the back, the adjustable side buckles pull the waist band in to your frame. Fits a t-shirt, a fleece or a rain shell underneath. Not sure it'll sit right? Wear it for a month and send it back if it doesn't.

Shipping & returns

$4.90 flat shipping in the contiguous US from a US warehouse. Processed in 1–3 business days, at your door in 3–10. No Hawaii, Alaska, PO boxes or APO/FPO.

30-day walk test: wear it on the walks you already take for a month. If it isn't on your body most mornings — or for any other reason — send it back for a refund of the purchase price. Return shipping comes out of the refund unless the vest is defective — it ships at 33 lb, and we're not going to pretend that ride is free. Swapping up from Light? We waive the deduction. Returns go to Tustin, California, not overseas.

90-day defect replacement: seam split, buckle fail, pouch leak — we replace it, free.

Materials & care

Neoprene shell, double-stitched weight band with slide-in pockets, sealed iron weight packs, reflective stripes on the shoulder straps and the waist band, mesh phone pocket, side-release buckles.

Pouches out, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, hang to dry. Don't machine-wash, don't submerge the pouches.

The fixed 20 lb vest has a shelf life.

Twenty pounds works for three months.
Then your body stops caring.

You bought a fixed 20 lb vest. It was hard for a month, noticeable for two, and background noise by three. Now it sits on a shelf and you're looking for a 25. Every one-star review of every fixed vest tells the same story: bought it, adapted, done.

HEFT Core is 20 lb on day one and 32 lb whenever you need it. Six sealed iron packs, 2 lb each, double-stitched pockets. Slide one in when the stairs stop being hard. Then another. Then another. Same vest, same price, twelve more pounds of headroom.

Side buckles pull it flat to your frame. Padded X-straps cross at the back. Nothing bounces on the stairs, nothing shifts on the landing. Thirty days to test it on your own routes.

Built for the hour you already train

Same stairs. They cost something again.

Twenty pounds on your torso and the same hill is a different hill. Your heart works harder at the same pace; your legs, hips and back carry the difference. No gym, no class, no extra minute.

How it works

Three steps. No manual.

1
Unbox

All 6 2 lb packs are already in the waist band. Nothing to order, nothing to assemble.

2
Cinch

Clip it on over your clothes. Two side buckles pull the band in to your frame; padded straps cross at the back. It shouldn't bounce — if it does, cinch again.

3
Add two pounds

Day one: packs out, 20 lb. Slide one back in when the last one stopped costing anything — for most people every one to two weeks.

What makes HEFT different?

Adjustable. Everything included. Not a plate carrier.

The cheap fixed vest is one weight for life. Plate carriers sell the carrier, then the plates. HEFT Core is 20 to 32 lb with every pack in the box — nothing to buy afterwards.

What $129 actually buys

Everything that makes it work is already in the box.

Most weighted vests sell you a number and leave you to figure out the rest. This is the whole thing: the vest, every weight, the plan for using it, and two ways out if it isn't for you.

The vest

One adjustable size, worn over your clothes like a harness. Padded straps cross at the back, the weight rides in a flat band at your waist.

Every weight pack

Light ships with six 1 lb packs, Core with six 2 lb, Heavy with eight. There is no second purchase, ever — not at 6 lb, not at 10.

The 6-Week Load Plan

A one-page plan, emailed the moment you order: which week you walk at which weight, and the one signal that tells you it's time to add a pack. The part everyone gets wrong on their own.

30-day walk test

Wear it on the walks you already take for a month. Not on your body most mornings? Send it back for a refund — return shipping on Light is on us.

90-day defect replacement

Seam splits, buckle fails, a pack leaks — photos by email and a new one ships. No return needed.

$4.90 flat shipping from a US warehouse. At your door in 3–10 business days.

The fixed 20 is a dead end

20 lb. Forever.
That's what fixed buys you.

A fixed 20 lb vest is 20 lb in week four and 20 lb in year two. Your body adapts in twelve weeks. Then you own a $40 vest that doesn't challenge you and a shelf it lives on.

HEFT Core starts at 20 and grows to 32. Same vest, 2 lb at a time, no second purchase. Sealed iron packs, double-stitched pockets, side buckles that don't slap on the stairs. Every pack ships in the box.

Thirty days to test it on your own stairs and hills. If 32 won't be enough, Heavy is 24 to 40 lb with eight packs for $149.

Why everyone suddenly has weight on their walk

Weighted walking went mainstream. HEFT is built for it.

Walking with load went from a military drill to a mainstream habit in about two years. TIME, Axios, and the entire fitness internet picked it up. These aren't about HEFT — they're about the thing HEFT is built for.

Third-party coverage of weighted walking as a category, quoted and linked. Not an endorsement of HEFT.

Find your starting vest

How to progress your load.

For everyday walking, a common rule of thumb is 5–10% of bodyweight — that's what Light is built for. Core and Heavy are session vests: stairs, hills, hikes, loaded bodyweight work, where people carry a higher share for shorter blocks. Start lower than you think; the pouches are there for later.

Weighted vests are exercise equipment. If you have back, joint, heart or blood-pressure conditions, or are pregnant, talk to your doctor before adding load.

Replaced my plate carrier and saved money

I was about to buy a plate carrier and a set of steel plates — $200+ for a setup that only changes weight one plate at a time. Core does 20 to 32 in 2 lb steps with everything included for $129. The weight sits lower than a plate carrier which is actually better for walking and stairs.

My physical therapist recommended weight-bearing exercise — this is it

I needed weight-bearing activity for bone health but hate the gym. Started with Core at 20 lb on my daily 3-mile walk and it's exactly the right amount of load. The fact that I can add 2 lb at a time means I'm never guessing. Comfortable enough to wear for an hour.

Stairs are a completely different exercise now

I climb 40 floors a day in my building's stairwell. At 26 lb this vest makes those stairs feel like they did when I first started. Heart rate stays elevated the whole session. Going to keep adding packs until I hit 32.

Good vest, wish I'd started with Light

Core starts at 20 lb with all packs out and that was a lot for my first weighted vest. Took the packs out and walked at 20 for two weeks before adding the first one back. Build quality is solid — the stitching and buckles feel like they'll last. If you've never worn weight, start with Light.

Core is the sweet spot for hikers

I hike 3-4 times a week on moderate trails and wanted to add training load without a heavy backpack. Core at 24 lb is perfect — enough to feel it on the uphills, light enough that 6 miles doesn't wreck me. The 2 lb adjustments mean I can dial it for flat days vs. elevation days.

Common questions

Questions, answered plainly.

Is it exactly 20 lb?

Core is 20 lb with all six packs removed and 32 lb with all six in, in 2 lb steps. If you want to stay at exactly 20, leave the packs in the box. If you want to grow, they're already there.

Why not just buy a fixed 20?

Because a fixed 20 is 20 forever. Your body adapts in about twelve weeks, and then you need more weight. HEFT Core gives you twelve more pounds of headroom for roughly the same price.

Core or Heavy?

Core if 20 is your base and 32 is plenty. Heavy if you know you'll pass 32 — it's 24 with the packs out and 40 with all eight in, for $20 more.

What if I don't use it?

Return it for any reason within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the purchase price. Light ships back free; on Core and Heavy the return label cost is deducted from the refund unless the item is defective. Details on the shipping & returns page.

How fast does it ship?

From a US warehouse. Orders are processed in 1–3 business days and delivered 2–7 business days after that — plan on 3–10 business days door to door. Free in the contiguous US. We can't ship to Hawaii, Alaska, US territories, APO/FPO or PO boxes.

Does it come with all the weights?

Yes. Every pouch is in the box. Light ships with six 1 lb pouches, Core with six 2 lb packs, Heavy with eight. There is nothing to buy afterwards.

What if I want 15 lb?

There's no HEFT between 10 and 20. Light tops out at 10; Core starts at 20 with the packs out. If 10 already feels easy on your walks, Core is the next real step.

Does it smell?

The packs are sealed iron weights in double-stitched pockets. Neoprene can carry a faint factory smell for a day out of the bag — air it out.

Can I wash it?

Wipe it. Take the pouches out, wipe the neoprene with a damp cloth and mild soap, hang to dry. Do not machine-wash and do not submerge the pouches.

Is a weighted vest safe for me?

Weighted vests are exercise equipment. If you have back, joint, heart or blood-pressure conditions, or are pregnant, talk to your doctor first. Start light and add weight slowly — that is exactly what the pouches are for.

What if I need more than 32?

Heavy is 24 to 40 lb with eight packs for $149. If you're already strong enough that 32 won't last, start there. Both ship with every pack in the box.

30-day walk test

Try it for 30 days.

Walk in it, wear it up the stairs, take it on a hike. Not on your body most mornings? Send it back within 30 days for a refund of the purchase price — the return label cost is deducted unless the vest is defective. Every vest is also covered by a 90-day defect replacement.
