What's in the box

Vest with 6 × 1 lb pouches (all installed), mesh storage bag.

Weight range 4–10 lb, in 1 lb steps. Shipped weight 11 lb.

Will it fit me?

One adjustable size, black. It's a harness worn over your clothes, not a fitted garment: padded shoulder straps cross at the back, the adjustable side buckles pull the waist band in to your frame. Fits a t-shirt, a fleece or a rain shell underneath. Not sure it'll sit right? Wear it for a month and send it back if it doesn't.

Shipping & returns

$4.90 flat shipping in the contiguous US from a US warehouse. Processed in 1–3 business days, at your door in 3–10. No Hawaii, Alaska, PO boxes or APO/FPO.

30-day walk test: wear it on the walks you already take for a month. If it isn't on your body most mornings — or for any other reason — send it back for a refund of the purchase price. Return shipping on Light is free. Returns go to Tustin, California, not overseas.

90-day defect replacement: seam split, buckle fail, pouch leak — we replace it, free.

Materials & care

Neoprene shell, double-stitched weight band with slide-in pockets, sealed iron weight packs, reflective stripes on the shoulder straps and the waist band, mesh phone pocket, side-release buckles.

Pouches out, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, hang to dry. Don't machine-wash, don't submerge the pouches.

Every other vest has the same problem.

One weight, forever.
That's not adjustable. That's a dead end.

The $28 vest is 8 lb. The $45 vest is 12 lb. Your body adapts to both in six weeks. Then you own a vest that doesn't do anything and a closet shelf it sits on. The one-star reviews all say the same thing: too light after a month, no way to add.

HEFT Light is seven weights in one box. Four pounds on day one. Five when that stops being noticeable. Six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Core picks up at twenty and runs to thirty-two. Heavy goes to forty. Every single pouch ships in the box. Nothing is sold separately, nothing is an add-on, nothing is out of stock.

Sealed iron weight packs in double-stitched pockets. Side buckles pull the waist band flat. Padded X-straps sit behind your shoulders, not on them. One adjustable size that cinches to any frame.

Built for the walk you already take

Same route. The hill counts again.

A few pounds on your torso and every step costs a little more. Your heart works harder at the same pace; your legs, hips and back carry the difference. No gym, no class, no extra minute.

How it works

Three steps. No manual.

1
Unbox

All 6 1 lb pouches are already in the waist band. Nothing to order, nothing to assemble.

2
Cinch

Clip it on over your clothes. Two side buckles pull the band in to your frame; padded straps cross at the back. It shouldn't bounce — if it does, cinch again.

3
Add a pound

Day one: take the pouches out and walk at 4 lb. Slide one back in when the last one stopped being noticeable — for most people every one to two weeks.

What makes HEFT different?

Built for walking. Not the gym.

The $28 vest is one fixed weight for life. Plate carriers are built for the gym and sell the plates separately. HEFT sits in between — adjustable, everything included, made to be worn on a Tuesday.

What $79 actually buys

Everything that makes it work is already in the box.

Most weighted vests sell you a number and leave you to figure out the rest. This is the whole thing: the vest, every weight, the plan for using it, and two ways out if it isn't for you.

The vest

One adjustable size, worn over your clothes like a harness. Padded straps cross at the back, the weight rides in a flat band at your waist.

Every weight pack

Light ships with six 1 lb packs, Core with six 2 lb, Heavy with eight. There is no second purchase, ever — not at 6 lb, not at 10.

The 6-Week Load Plan

A one-page plan, emailed the moment you order: which week you walk at which weight, and the one signal that tells you it's time to add a pack. The part everyone gets wrong on their own.

30-day walk test

Wear it on the walks you already take for a month. Not on your body most mornings? Send it back for a refund — return shipping on Light is on us.

90-day defect replacement

Seam splits, buckle fails, a pack leaks — photos by email and a new one ships. No return needed.

$4.90 flat shipping from a US warehouse. At your door in 3–10 business days.

Tightening the side buckle of a HEFT vest before a walk
The $28 vest is a dead end. Do the math.

Six weeks of use.
Then it lives in a closet.

A fixed 8 lb vest is $28. It works for six weeks. Then your body stops noticing it, and there's no way to add weight. You buy a 12. Same thing happens. By the time you find one that grows, you've spent $80 on two vests that sit in a closet.

HEFT Light is $79 for seven weights. Four to ten pounds in single-pound steps, every pouch in the box. One purchase. If you outgrow ten, the full $79 comes off Core.

Still not sure? Return shipping on Light is free. Wear it for a real month. If it doesn't earn its hook by the door, send it back.

Why everyone suddenly has weight on their walk

Weighted walking went mainstream. HEFT is built for it.

Walking with load went from a military drill to a mainstream habit in about two years. TIME, Axios, and the entire fitness internet picked it up. These aren't about HEFT — they're about the thing HEFT is built for.

Third-party coverage of weighted walking as a category, quoted and linked. Not an endorsement of HEFT.

Find your starting vest

How to progress your load.

For everyday walking, a common rule of thumb is 5–10% of bodyweight — that's what Light is built for. Core and Heavy are session vests: stairs, hills, hikes, loaded bodyweight work, where people carry a higher share for shorter blocks. Start lower than you think; the pouches are there for later.

Weighted vests are exercise equipment. If you have back, joint, heart or blood-pressure conditions, or are pregnant, talk to your doctor before adding load.

Turned my morning walk into an actual workout

I walk 45 minutes every morning and it stopped doing anything for me about a year ago. Started at 4 lb and I'm at 8 now after six weeks. My heart rate is up, my legs are tired again, and I haven't added a single minute to my route. The pouches slide in and out in seconds.

Every pouch in the box — no second purchase

Every other vest I looked at was either fixed weight or sold the plates separately. This one came with all six pouches and I started using it the same afternoon. Quality is better than the $30 Amazon vests I returned twice.

Finally a vest that doesn't dig into my shoulders

I'm 5'4" and every weighted vest I tried sat on my shoulders and bounced when I walked. This one rides at the waist and the X-straps actually stay put. I wear it over a t-shirt every morning on the dog walk. At 6 lb right now and my Fitbit shows the difference.

Simple, does what it says

No bells and whistles. You clip it on, tighten the buckles, and walk. I wanted something I could add weight to over time instead of buying a heavier vest in three months. This does that. Only reason for 4 stars: wish it came in colors.

6 weeks in and I'm already at 10 lb

The 6-Week Load Plan they email you is actually useful — tells you exactly when to add the next pouch. I followed it and went from 4 to 10 lb without ever feeling like I overdid it. My walking partner just ordered one after seeing my results on Apple Watch.

Better than the gym membership I cancelled

I was paying $50/month for a gym I went to twice a week. Now I walk an hour a day with 8 lb on me and my resting heart rate dropped 6 bpm in a month. The vest pays for itself in two months of cancelled gym fees and I actually use it every single day.

Common questions

Questions, answered plainly.

Which range should I start with?

Never worn weight on a walk: Light, with the pouches out (4 lb). Already hike with a pack, do stairs, or want strength work: Core at 20. Loaded push-ups, runs or rucking-style miles: Heavy. If you're between two, take the lighter one. The pouches are there for later.

What happens when I outgrow Light?

The full $79 comes off Core inside 90 days. Start at Light, grow into Core. No wasted money.

Is 4 to 10 lb enough?

For walking, most people start well under 10 lb — day one should feel like a heavy sweater, not a workout. If you already carry a loaded pack on hikes or do stairs regularly, start with Core at 20.

What if I don't use it?

Return it for any reason within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the purchase price. Light ships back free; on Core and Heavy the return label cost is deducted from the refund unless the item is defective. Details on the shipping & returns page.

How fast does it ship?

From a US warehouse. Orders are processed in 1–3 business days and delivered 2–7 business days after that — plan on 3–10 business days door to door. Free in the contiguous US. We can't ship to Hawaii, Alaska, US territories, APO/FPO or PO boxes.

Does it come with all the weights?

Yes. Every pouch is in the box. Light ships with six 1 lb pouches, Core with six 2 lb packs, Heavy with eight. There is nothing to buy afterwards.

What if I want 15 lb?

There's no HEFT between 10 and 20. Light tops out at 10; Core starts at 20 with the packs out. If 10 already feels easy on your walks, Core is the next real step.

Does it smell?

The packs are sealed iron weights in double-stitched pockets. Neoprene can carry a faint factory smell for a day out of the bag — air it out.

Can I wash it?

Wipe it. Take the pouches out, wipe the neoprene with a damp cloth and mild soap, hang to dry. Do not machine-wash and do not submerge the pouches.

Is a weighted vest safe for me?

Weighted vests are exercise equipment. If you have back, joint, heart or blood-pressure conditions, or are pregnant, talk to your doctor first. Start light and add weight slowly — that is exactly what the pouches are for.

Can I run in it?

Yes, at a jog. Cinch both side buckles and the waist band sits flat. The straps cross at the back so nothing rides up. It handles stairs, hills and a loaded jog. It's not built for sprint intervals.

Are the pouches really all included?

Every single one. Light ships with six 1 lb pouches. Core ships with six 2 lb packs. Heavy ships with eight. Nothing is sold as an add-on, nothing is backordered, nothing shows up later. One box, everything in it.

30-day walk test

Try it for 30 days.

Walk in it, wear it up the stairs, see how it feels on a real week. Not on your body most mornings? Send it back within 30 days for a refund — free return shipping on Light. Every vest is also covered by a 90-day defect replacement.
